Write the call, press Double

Write a 2-bar call (the motif), then press Double to grow it into a riff the way riffs are usually written: repeat the call, vary the ending. Every note square is at least 44 by 44 px on a 390 px wide screen.

Get a score and a next move

Submit as often as you like: there is no attempt limit. The score sheet shows the score, three reasons and the next best move. Make a share card or copy the challenge code.

On a desktop screen the grid shows both bars of a block, with the challenge, transport and tools beside it. Export any riff as a MIDI file for your DAW.

HOW IT WORKS.

CALL, DOUBLE, SCORE.

The score rewards how the riff is built: a call, Double, answers that change it, an ending. It measures rule-following and development, not musical quality. It cannot hear your riff.

Daily challenge NEW EVERY DAY

A new daily challenge every day, plus practice seeds. Each challenge gives you musical constraints: a rhythm cell, a tuning, a note budget, a jump limit, a tempo range and rules.

Call and Double 2-BAR CALL

Write a 2-bar call, press Double to grow it into a full riff, then change a note or two in each new block and submit.

Score and next move OUT OF 100

The score sheet gives a score, three reasons and one tip, with the full breakdown behind Details. Replay, compare, fork, delete with undo, and export each attempt as MIDI.

Saved in your browser NO ATTEMPT LIMIT

Your riffs are saved only in this browser on this computer. Another browser or computer will not see them, and clearing the browser site data deletes them. Export a backup from Menu to keep or move them.

Free and offline NO TRACKING

The game is free and works fully offline. It makes no network calls and has no ads, analytics or tracking. Its only link, Get Cinderhall MIDI packs on the score screen, opens the Cinderhall store in a new tab, only if you click it.

HOW TO OPEN IT.

UNZIP, THEN DOUBLE-CLICK.

Download the free zip from Payhip and unzip the whole folder first. Then double-click index.html: it opens in your web browser. Nothing to install, no account, no sign-in.

Made for Chrome, Edge and Firefox on a computer. The game is in English.

KNOW THE LIMITS.

AN HONEST SKETCH.

The layout is designed phone-first, with its measurements taken in emulated Chrome. Phones and tablets have not been tested with this download, and it has not been tested on a real phone, Android or iOS.

Sound is a simple built-in synth sketch, not a guitar tone. The score is not a verdict on taste.
